Description:

This project called for the design and construction of a brand new Men's and Women's ADA Accessible Restroom addition adjacent to the existing City Hall Council Chamber Building. Villarruel Architects, Inc. was hired to design the addition to work with the buildings existing architectural and structural components. One major design issue was to design the restroom to function with the existing structural slab and subterranean parking garage below. Included in the project scope was the need for a Men's Restroom with (2) lavatories, (2) toilets/stalls & (3) urinals as well as a Women's Restroom with (2) lavatories & (4) toilets/stalls, and finally a storage/janitors closet. The complexities of this site as well as tying the new scope into the existing program elements and creating a new opening through an existing 18" thick stone wall have helped to bring functionality back to this exisiting Compton City Hall Council Chamber Facility located in the City of Compton, CA.
