Antonio Villarruel, AIA was selected by Monsignor Michael Bunny and the Los Angeles Archdiocese to modernize an existing 10,000 Sq. Ft. church, along with an expansion of the facility of an additional 1,000 Sq. Ft. Included in the expansion were men and women dressing rooms, a work sacristy and circulation space. The interior space remodel consisted mainly of modernizing the altar space. This included bringing the altar closer to the body of the church, relocating the lectern, ambo, and presider's chair. A new baptismal fountain was incorporated in the design along with new paint, carpeting, and a new sound system.The architecture for the addition was designed to match the existing style of the building. To modernize the existing exterior elevations, Villarruel Architects designed new covered roof elements to match existing features. Site improvements included new handicap parking, new concrete walkways and landscaping.
