Description:
This project called for the design and construction of a brand new Concrete Batch Plant on a 75,350 square foot parcel. Villarruel Architects, Inc. was hired to take this existing concrete batch and re-design it into a brand new state-of-the-art Batch Plant Facility. Once a run-down and out-dated facility, today this state-of-the-art Facility consists of 3 separate buildings along with an efficient mix of industrial equipment to help make this. A major component of this project was a 1,564 s.f. two-story dispatch building, a 2,600 s.f. shop building and a 272 s.f. electrical building. This project required extensive LA County mitigation measures due to Environmental issues associated with such a large facility. We had to incorporate Best Management Practices, SUSMP, and Air Quality safeguards. Also because of the soils liquefaction potential we had to use compaction grouting and cone penetration test soundings. Ultimately the project was a complete and received all the necessary clearances to begin operation.
